WPD Community Chest - £1000 grants still available

Funding Offered By: Western Power Distribution (WPD) in partnership with the Centre for Sustainable Energy (CSE)

Funding Description:

Energy efficiency improvements to community buildings

The Community Chest grant scheme was launched in November 2016 by electricity company Western Power Distribution (WPD) in partnership with the Centre for Sustainable Energy (CSE) who are administering the initiative.

There is a total pot available for £50,000 and grants of up to £1,000 will be awarded to community buildings for improvements that will reduce energy use, based on a ‘DIY’ audit of the building.

Community groups within WPD’s distribution area which covers South and West Wales and the South West of England, can apply for the cash help for improvements like draught-proofing windows and doors, energy monitors, insulation, heating controls and low energy lighting.

There’s more information about the application process and how to carry out your own energy audit on the CSE website.

Notes:
Western Power Distribution (WPD) is the regional electricity distribution business for south west England and south and west Wales. It manages, operates and maintains distribution infrastructure like poles, pylons, cables and substations.

The Centre for Sustainable Energy (CSE) is an independent national charity which specialises in carbon reduction and fuel poverty issues. CSE has particular experience of working with community groups to help reduce their energy consumption.
